Nursery School and Kindergarten: Hannah Perkins, Cleveland, Ohio.
Grades 1 through 6:
Fairfax Elementary School,
Cleveland Heights, Ohio. (Note to visitors: the school has been torn down and
rebuilt since. Here's a
picture of Fairfax as it was.)
Mrs. Bloom. Commented upon Plonsey's messy desk:
"Your parents must not make you clean up at home!"
I thought her name was "Balloon" for a couple days or maybe weeks.
An old biddy.
Mrs. Foltz. Made use of the ``thinking finger.'' Slow readers didn't
get to build candy houses.
Mrs. Lodish. Gave Plonsey a coin from England. A favorite teacher.
Mrs. Fulton.
Gave Plonsey a failing grade in English because Plonsey stopped
turning in assignments after he ran out of paper.
Mrs. McHugh, with Mr. Freed for math, except during the week of
Plonsey's
punishment for a now-forgotten offense, during which time he had to copy the
Declaration of Independence.
Miss Janus. Somewhat bland. Mr. Gale, a rotarian, taught social
studies and made fun of an assignment turned in by
Plonsey which had gotten a bit smudgy.
BA in Math and Music,
Yale University. Studied composition with Martin Bresnick and David Lewin.
1979 Summer program at the
Creative Music
Studio, Woodstock, NY.
Teachers included Roscoe
Mitchell, Karl Berger, Braxton, Leo Smith.
MA in music composition,
Mills college. Studied with Anthony Braxton, Pauline Oliveros, David Rosenboom
and others.
