For centuries, polyphonic music has been yammering at us with its
many voices, inducing madness, dementia, and other fine properties.
For centuries to come, this synesthesia-inducing meta-music will
reign supreme.
Why listen to just one band at a time when you can come hear seven
playing at once?
It just makes good sense.
On Wednesday, April 26, 8:15 PM.......................
At the Berkeley Store Gallery's BEANBENDER's series:
A Most Unusual Outing: In the main room:
- The Chamber League, under the direction of Clyde Yasuhara
playing 20th Century Classical Music, incl. Ligeti, Revueltes...
- The Code, under the direction of Steve Horowitz
playing music to accompany dada story-songs
- The Dan Plonsey thing, under no direction, playing saxophones
in 2s, 3s, 4s...
- The Philip Greenlief Trio
- Crawling With Tarts
- and various other luminaries in other rooms
The idea being, in fact, to make a sort of music which defies
apprehension. The idea not being to coordinate, sublimate, or
organize in any way these elements. Being an hommage to Ives
and Cage minus any sort of analytical work before, during or after.
The idea being to do it simply because we can do it.
And to begin the festivities at 8:15, The Code to play a set all its own,
whose eclectic musicality will drive many to sobbing.
$5. The Berkeley Store Gallery Annex @ 2295 Shattuck (@ Bancroft, Berkeley)
